View Technologies Announces Partnership With RFID Lab at Auburn University

Real-time location-based RFID services provider joins Lab's Board of Advisors and makes technology available for industry advancement

View Technologies, a joint venture between Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. (NYSE: SWK) and RF Controls providing real-time, location-based RFID services, today announced its partnership with the RFID Lab at Auburn University, a research institute committed to growing the implementation of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and other emerging technologies in retail, supply chain and manufacturing settings.

Auburn University’s RFID Lab specializes in business case validation and technical implementation of RFID technology. Located in a former supermarket, the Lab students take advantage of the 13,000-square feet space to simulate real-world RFID-based implementations in retail, grocery and convenience stores as well as warehouse and distribution center environments.

As a member of the Auburn University RFID Lab, View Technologies serves on the research institute’s Board of Advisors and has made its Echo Smart Antennas and inView Platform available for testing and demonstrations.

“The demand for RFID technology will continue to expand as industries see the opportunity to gain better visibility of inventory as well as enhance business processes and the customer experience,” said Steve Hudson, president of View Technologies. “The RFID Lab at Auburn University complements our efforts to explore, test and advance our breakthrough technology within the industry.  The Lab stands to set the benchmark for RFID research and education, and we are excited to play an active role.”

View Technologies is actively working with Auburn students and faculty to create new methods of automating and solving business challenges that its technology uniquely addresses.  This includes testing real-world scenarios with existing and newly developed RFID tags and systems, ultimately enabling new innovations, input and feedback from leading industry customers.

“By partnering with the world’s leading retailers, suppliers and technology providers, we have created a unique opportunity for students, faculty and industry leaders to collaborate and keep the RFID industry moving forward,” said Justin Patton, RFID Lab Director at Auburn University. “View Technologies is bringing a unique and dynamic real-time location system to the market utilizing RFID technology.  We are excited to work with them and, together, push the limits to provide better business outcomes.”
