uParcel, Easiest way to courier a parcel

“I like uParcel a lot! Very convenient to request for delivery” says Sally Park, online seller.

Opportunities abound

E-commerce is the primary driving force for courier deliveries. In the past, the only way to shop is to go to a retail shop. However, now items get delivered to customers. As more business go online, there will be more parcels to deliver. There is plenty of room for e-commerce market to grow.

In European countries such as Switerland, Austria and France, an average houshold receives about 13 parcels a year. Singaporean households, on the other hand, receive only about 3 parcels a year on average.

“The tentent mix in malls is changing. It used to be majority retail but now it is majority services such as F&B, saloons and even tuition centers. We want to be there to deliver as retailers shift online” says William Ng, Uparcel Strategy Director.

Point to Point Delivery system

Straight to the point is what uParcel is about. Logistics has traditionally been defined by hub and spoke design. This requires centralized sorting and unnecessary detours for deliveries to reach their destinations. uParcel is built on a point-to-point logistical system that allows parcels to make their way directly to their destinations while picking up other deliveries along the way. Less resources and time are wasted through the point-to-point design.

“There are many small online sellers doing business through Qoo10, Lazada, eBay or even blogshops. They don’t have huge volumes to use logistics companies or to justify their own in house deliveries. We want to be there to help the small retailers compete.”  says Mabeline Xie, Uparcel Business Development Director.
