Trade Show Booth Producer Steelhead Brings Home The EDPA Eddie Award

Steelhead Productions wins the 2014 Exhibit Designers + Producers Association (EDPA) Eddie Award for its direct mailer campaign leading up to EXHIBITOR 2014.

Steelhead Productions Inc. is proud to announce the company was the recipient of the 2014 Exhibit Designers + Producers Association (EDPA) Eddie Award for its direct mailer campaign leading up to EXHIBITOR 2014.

Announced during the 2014 EDPA Annual Conference Dec. 8-10 in Florida, Steelhead’s efforts to invite attendees to their vintage-carnival scene exhibit were recognized.

The creative team at Steelhead again wanted to engage their audience at the EXHIBITOR show the only way they know how – by having fun.  Having a little fun is the perfect ice-breaker that can allow for a memorable connection with traffic in and out of the show floor.

Playing games is a popular form of family entertainment – and Steelhead wanted to invite exhibit attendees to be a part of their family. But setting up a few board games around the company’s double-deck 20x20 exhibit wasn’t going to cut it.

Steelhead decided to create an eloquent vintage carnival scene, complete with an old-fashioned ring toss game for prizes that included branded wooden yo-yos, Bluetooth speakers, and novelty glasses. The upper level of the exhibit included a fortune-teller (anyone remember the movie “Big”)?

To spread the word, a series of pre-show mailers included post cards to all registered attendees featuring the campaign theme, piquing interest with words like “Wonder of Wonder,” “Ladies and Gents,” and “Right This Way”. Next, attendees received a crimson envelope containing a single black balloon with the company’s signature smiley face logo. Attendees were asked to blow up the balloon and take a “Selfie” for fun tagged with #ExhibitHappy for the chance to win an extra prize during the show.

The final mailer, sent two weeks before the show, contained one carnival-themed ticket good for a game of ring toss, and another for a fortune-teller in the upper level of Steelhead’s exhibit. Members of the tradeshow media also received a package with a letter explaining the theme, a branded canvas lunch bag, novelty glasses, lollipop and wooden yo-yo.

Steelheaders may still be caught putting the wooden ring toss table to good use at their headquarters in Las Vegas.
