The Countdown Begins - Third Edition of India's Longest Amateur Cycling Event - Veloraid 2015

200 cyclists participating in this year's edition continues to show the popularity of this event as well as the ever-growing awareness of cycling as a fitness sport. This August will witness cycling teams and individuals test their cycling prowess across a format that is both unique and grueling.

Lakecity Pedalers – A Haybren Adventures initiative and Haybren Events a part of Haybren Adventures one of the pioneers in spreading the awareness of cycling and the benefits of cycling as a sport and mode of transport have come together to organize this event on August 23, 2015. This year it’s the third edition of Veloraid since its inception in 2013.

The mission is to increase the number of serious cyclists in the region and offer a professional platform for Amateur cyclists to participate in a race that has all the elements of a professional team cycling event. The Cyclists will cover a distance of 180 kms from Thane to Vaitarna  and back

I am delighted to support and be part of Veloraid 2015,” said Shishir Gorle Co-organizer (Director & CEO, GlobaIinnovsource.) “Not only are we promoting a great event, we are hoping to help grow the sport of cycling and encourage people to participate in a lifelong physical activity that can be enjoyed by young and old alike.” We want cycling to become the natural choices for transport, kick starting a cycling revolution that will remove barriers for new generation of cyclists.

Veloraid, going by the most number of likes for any cycling event across our social media shows the growing popularity and the challenges that the route offers.

Mr Jose George, owner of Haybren Adventures and the man behind the success of this event, also created this unique format. He adds “It’s a Team event which offers Amateur cyclists a true professional race experience, with dedicated support vehicles, trained support crew, medical assistance and race marshals.

One of our main goals over the last seven years has been to promote cycling as a lifestyle alternative” Jose George.  ‘We wouldn’t be where we’re at today without all of our tremendous riders as well as our sponsors, many of which have been with us since day one. We’re grateful to work with them again in 2015.”

The event will be seeing 30 teams comprising of around 180 cyclists across the region and country coming from various walks of life, including CEOs, professionals like architects and doctors, some from the armed forces and other corporate.
