"The Cold Shelf": Keep Food and Drink Separate From Melting Ice

Invents introduces "The Cold Shelf" for various outdoor enthusiasts including campers, beach-goers, sports buffs and more.

Picnics and outdoor events are always popular during the spring, summer and fall periods. Large coolers are used to hold beverages and other foods. However users are often faced with the problem of wet sandwiches, damp rolls, watery salads and more. The new Cold Shelf solves that problem. The Cold Shelf is height adjustable with a raised perforated platform designed to be used on top of the ice inside the cooler. The design intent is to provide outdoor enthusiasts with an effective means of keeping food and drink separate from melting ice. It works on the beach, at a park as a table top and also works equally well for tailgaters and others, such as construction workers and those who work outdoors during the day but keep their coolers inside their trucks, SUVs or vans.

The Cold Shelf is rectangular and designed to accommodate most any cooler size. The top surface of the Cold Shelf is composed of durable plastic material featuring a series of openings/holes peppered along the unit to provide ingress for the cold emanating from the bags of ice used to “refrigerate” the contents. The Cold Shelf is hinged in order to allow users to reach into the ice when desired, without having to remove the entire shelf and its contents. Televised test marketing has been completed indicating exceptional consumer interest in the Cold Shelf.

The Patent Pending Cold Shelf was invented by Robert Marinelli of Lansdale, PA who said, “When using a cooler The Cold Shelf is the only way to keep food dry and beverages cold, yet easily accessible without the items getting wet. It works just as well in a patio or backyard as it does on the beach, at a picnic or football game. And, for the highway construction workers during hot summer days and/or for the all-day-long patient fisherman, it works perfectly.”
