Technology Wellness Center Launches Online Solutions

Offers affordable support for families struggling with technology

The Technology Wellness Center founded by Scottsdale clinical psychologist, Dr. Lisa Strohman, recently introduced an online membership program for parents. The program is an alternative option for those that cannot afford the time or financial commitment professional counseling services require. The membership will provide easy access to tools and resources for addressing technology overuse and addiction issues. It will also include an instructional e-book, “Unplug: raising kids in a technology addicted world,” written and due for release by Strohman and Technology Wellness Center Co-Founder, Dr. Melissa Westendorf.

“We are seeing an increase in anxiety, depression and suicide among young adults, teens and tweens, and technology is a contributing factor,” explains Strohman. “Parents need to be more proactive and establish healthy practices early on if they hope to raise well-adjusted and productive young adults.”

"We see the challenges and issues families are facing. They feel helpless and we knew we needed to do something to help."

The membership includes access to a full technology assessment, Q&As with experts, educational videos, monitoring and managing tips and a community support forum.

“We see the challenges and issues families are facing,” said Strohman. “They feel helpless and we knew we needed to do something to help.”

Those that prefer face-to-face counseling can schedule an appointment or visit technologywellnesscenter.com to learn about upcoming parenting seminars. In addition, Strohman and Westendorf offer free access to their initial assessment tool, the Technology Use Continuum© (TUC). The TUC© was designed to help parents and individuals identify potential areas of risk for technology overuse. The psychologists conducted years of research to develop the assessment in order to identify the four main risk areas: behavioral, physical, emotional and interpersonal. The TUC© is a comprehensive online test that generates a personalized report highlighting areas at risk.
