Sizzling Summer in Store at San Diego Hotels

RAR Hospitality's collection offering poolside entertainment, landmark anniversary celebrations and perfect seasonal getaways in America's Finest City

Summertime in San Diego never sees a dull moment, and the team at RAR Hospitality is making sure this season is even sunnier thanks to celebrations and offerings at its local collection of hotels. From North County to North Park, must-see music series and milestone anniversaries tempt travelers with cool events and hot deals all summer long.

At North Park’s Lafayette Hotel, the hip hideaway’s famous poolside entertainment events are back through Labor Day weekend. An eclectic mix of music, ranging from “Legendary Funk and Soul” with Grandmasta Ratty to “Flashback” with DJ Man Cat, set the tone for weekend afternoons at the Johnny Weissmuller-designed pool. Guests can dance the day away, then refresh and refuel with a cocktail, local craft beer or bite to eat at Hope 46. Helmed by Executive Chef Ryan Gilbert, Hope 46 is rolling out a number of new items to toast San Diego summer, including specialty Poolside Libations like the Weissmuller Cooler with bourbon, peach syrup, lime juice and ginger ale or the Fresh Start with citrus vodka, berries, lemon and sparkling wine.

The chic and sexy Keating Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter is celebrating more than just a bustling Comic-Con week this season. The hotel’s historic home; which has played host to a bank, a library and more since 1890; is celebrating 125 years as a downtown San Diego mainstay. Guests can join the party with luxurious Girls’ Night Out or Boys Will Be Boys packages; each featuring a stay in the exclusive Macallan Suite, VIP treatment at top local clubs, an Uber credit and more; or build their own experience in one of the hotel’s sleek, upscale “stanzas” or suites.

Another big anniversary is on the horizon in North County. The RAR owned and operated Hilton San Diego/Del Mar “Campus,” which includes Hilton Garden Inn San Diego/Del Mar and Homewood Suites San Diego/Del Mar, will be looking back on a decade of service and success this month. What started as a 27-employee operation has grown to house more than 100 workers, earn accolades in the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame and contribute to the economic development of its Carmel Valley neighborhood. Hilton Garden Inn’s Serenity Spa & Salon will also be celebrating come June, thanks to fresh renovation reveal.

“It is not common for a branded hotel to have the same management and owners for a decade,” said Bob Rauch, president and founder of RAR Hospitality. “I’m very proud to have been a part of the Campus’ success, along with my team, and look forward to another great decade.”

Finally, there’s no better place for a San Diego summer than Coronado, and the boutique, Spanish-inspired El Cordova Hotel is a hotspot for an authentic local experience. With prime beachside location, El Cordova is the perfect launchpad for adventures, be it cruising the Silver Strand, skimming the San Diego Bay by ferry, watching the “Big Bay Boom” 4th of July fireworks show or taking a quick trip over the bridge to the Gaslamp, Balboa Park and beyond. Summer lodging is in high demand, but there are some rooms still available throughout the season.
