SGS, Global Voice Group & Escopil Implemented a Quality of Service Solution for the Telecoms Authorities of Mozambique

SGS and Global Voice Group (GVG) have successfully created the foundation for monitoring the quality of service of telecom networks in Mozambique.

Global Voice Group QoS Monitoring System

SGS and Global Voice Group, with their partner Escopil, have recently finished their contract with the Instituto Nacional das Comunicaçoes de Moçambique (INCM). The result of SGS and GVG’s mandate has been the creation of a monitoring system for the quality of telecommunication networks in Mozambique.

In 2011, Mozambique passed a decree on the Regulation of the Quality of Service (QoS) of its public telecommunications services. SGS and GVG were awarded a contract to provide QoS monitoring tools and started the project in November 2014. By March 2015, SGS, GVG and their partner, Escopil, had established control method, procedures and tools for QoS measurement and testing. The partners also provided training to the regulator’s staff and assessed the subscribers’ quality of experience, before launching the first quality of service pilot in Maputo City.

In a few months, SGS and GVG had created the foundation for QoS monitoring in Mozambique. There are now grounds for fair competition to encourage operators to invest in the infrastructure and offer better quality of service to subscribers.

SGS, GVG and their partner, Escopil, are committed to supporting the INCM during its testing initiative to insure the regulator’s success.
