NYC Subway System to Move Data, Not Just People

HFN expands NYC's network infrastructure using transit system.

Hudson Fiber Network (HFN), a leading IP and network provider, announced today the completion of its installation of bulk cable throughout Manhattan.  The project significantly impacts New York’s telecommunications infrastructure by bringing fiber optic services to leading commercial buildings and data centers throughout New York City.

The recently installed bulk cable adds lit and dark fiber options to major data centers including 111 Eighth Avenue, 60 Hudson Street, and 325 Hudson Street. Future data centers within the city’s infrastructure will include 375 Pearl Street, 32 Avenue of the Americas and 85 Tenth Avenue.

"This is a game changer for Manhattan's commercial buildings requiring better access and competitive pricing for fiber optic services."

Brett Diamond, CEO, Hudson Fiber Network

“This is a game changer for Manhattan’s commercial buildings requiring better access and competitive pricing for fiber optic services,” comments Brett Diamond, HFN’s CEO.

“Our new cable allows us to deliver lit and dark fiber services to many commercial buildings that do not yet have fiber or require diverse carrier access,” adds HFN’s COO, Keith Muller

“The NYC cable connects to our core New Jersey network, providing clients with national and international access connection points at faster speeds with greater bandwidth.”

In addition to commercial sites within Manhattan, HFN already provides carrier services to over 50 commercial buildings throughout New York City, With an average of 60- to 90-day installation time, HFN’s network expansion throughout New York City gives enterprises turnkey access to fiber services, delivering the best available connectivity and performance.

Accounting for approximately 3 percent of the world’s web traffic, New York City’s telecommunication system serves 8.3 million residents, including the city’s 3.9 million workers, 250,000 businesses, and 50 million annual visitors.

Earlier this year, HFN was named one of Inc. 5000’s fastest-growing private companies, capturing the #3 in carrier, #13 in telecom and top 1000 in overall ranking.
