MUFON Celebrate the Existence of UFO's in Memphis with the First Annual World UFO Day Festival!

The TN Chapter of MUFON Will Celebrate the Existence of UFO's at Pine Hill Park on World UFO Day Thursday July 2, 2015

The Tennessee chapter of the Mutual UFO Network (“MUFON”) is pleased to announce that on Thursday, July 2, 2015 the City of Memphis will be home to the First Annual World UFO Day Festival in Pine Hill Park.   The World UFO Day Festival will be a day-long event with a wide array of attractions including family events, great music, a moon-walking contest, alien costume contest, pet alien costume contest, family movie and documentary viewing, carnival rides and games, food vendors, balloon release, and much more, including some of the country’s best known researchers and experiencers in the field of Ufology.

Nick Pope, who at one time investigated UFOs for the British Government, said about the First Annual World UFO Day Festival in Memphis: "This event will be a huge success. Questions such as whether or not humans are alone in the Universe and whether earth is being visited are some of the biggest and most profound questions one can ask. The speakers coming to Memphis are the top experts in this field and may be able to answer these questions. This event promises to be interesting, controversial, and great fun."

The festival will begin early at 8:00 in the morning with everyone’s favorite, the Galactic Parade. A bit geeky, full of fun, and truly a treat for the eyes, the Parade will definitely set the mood for all other events throughout the rest of the day.  Following the parade, will be the Pet Alien Costume Contest.  Festival organizers are encouraging everybody to bring along their pets and participate in the contest – after all, humans are not the only Earthlings who deserve to have fun in an event like this.  The winner will be judged by crowd participation.

After the parade, former Memphis police officer, Captain Lamar Todd, will be the focal point of attraction.  Captain Lamar Todd, one of the two brave Memphis City Police officers who, on a May, 1977 evening, spotted a triangular-shaped unidentified flying object (UFO) at Norris Road intersection and followed it until the strange object moved away from them at rapid speed and disappeared. The presence of a strange flying object in the area that night was later confirmed by three other off-duty police officers from North Precinct.

Following Captain Lamar Todd’s presentation, the Close Up Kings will begin to wow festival goers with their close up magic.  Love magic?  Then stick around for the Close Up Kings, whom also have their own tv show on the SyFy Channel.  These guys are so phenomenal that it would not be a shocker if people ended up wondering whether they are really humans or representatives of some magical civilization from some distant planet in another galaxy.

After the magical performance by the Close Up Kings, world-famous UFO abductee, Travis Walton, will be on stage to share his up-close encounter with an unidentified flying saucer in Arizona in 1975.  Keen followers of real-life UFO encounters, already have some familiarity with the story of Walton – a story that became a book, Fire in the Sky, and also a movie.  There will also be a special 90-minute screening of the renowned documentary Travis – The True Story of Travis Walton.

The afternoon session of the event will also feature Peter Robbins, co-author of the British best-seller Left at East Gate.  Expect some invaluable insights from Robbins on UFO investigations and other controversial topics such as how and why government agencies cover-up and downplay any incident relating to UFOs.

The afternoon session includes other attractions such as Moon Walking Contest and Aliens vs Human game show, and an array of other fun activities in the amusement area.  For more information visit the festival website.

Children are welcome at this festival to enjoy activities and games including face painting, the bounce house, moon-walking contest, alien costume contest, a family movie, rides and games.  Activities for children will begin at 10:00 in the morning and will continue until 6:30 in the evening.

For all music lovers, there will be plenty of quality live music, too.   The Evening session will begin with a panel discussion, which to be followed by Sky Watching.   The Night Session will have a free family movie, DJ music and dancing under the stars.  More attractions are likely to be added to this tentative line-up as the big day approaches. The updated schedule of the event and tickets (including free passes) can be accessed at the official World UFO Day Festival, Memphis website.
