Metal Cutting Corporation Advances Surface Finish Validation with Mitutoyo Surftest® SJ-411/412

Metal Cutting Corporation utilizes Mitutoyo surface roughness testing tools for validating surface finishes.

As a producer of precision parts for customers with rigorous specifications, Metal Cutting Corporation requires surface finish testing equipment that is capable of getting valid readings on surfaces that are often very small and difficult to measure. For more than 25 years, Metal Cutting has utilized the Mitutoyo Surftest® 400 Series portable surface testers to verify that the surface finishes of parts meet customers' stringent needs.

Now Metal Cutting’s latest acquisition, the Mitutoyo Surftest® SJ-411, brings new features and high accuracy to surface roughness testing. Metal Cutting has the capabilities to cut, grind, lap, and polish surface finishes to even better than 0.025 micrometers Ra, and the SJ-411 enables the company to confirm that the final parts meet customers' critical surface finish requirements.

The Mitutoyo SJ-411 conforms to roughness standards JIS-B0601-2001, JIS-B0601-1994, JIS-B0601-1982, VDA, ISO-1997, and ANSI. The SJ-411 enables up to 10 measurement conditions and stored data to be called up, displayed, and printed. A simple contour analysis function is included (four types: step, step amount, area, and coordinate difference). In addition, a DAT (Digital Adjustment Tilting) function is included for easy workpiece leveling.
