Majestic Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica, Panacea, Now a Yoga Alliance RYS

Panacea de la Montaña, a renowned yoga retreat in Costa Rica, has recently been certified as a registered school with the international yoga organization Yoga Alliance.

Panacea de La Montaña, a widely sought-after yoga retreat in Costa Rica, is proud to announce that it is now a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance, an international standards-setting body for yoga teacher training programs and the largest non-profit institution representing the yoga community.

Before, Yoga Alliance allows trainees to apply for certification even if they have trained in non-registered schools. Later down the line, however, it has decided to restrict applications for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT) to students from registered schools for purposes of efficiency, growth, and fairness. The organization reminds both those new to the art and current yogis to check whether their school is truly accredited. It also encourages students to run a search through the Yoga Alliance website or contact them to ensure that the school they're enrolling in is accredited with the organization.

Yoga Alliance sets a standard 200-hour training program with a comprehensive curriculum that aims to prepare trainees in teaching a general adult population. All schools are required to develop their own objectives with respect to the curriculum, and to provide a minimum number of training hours on each of its five parts, depending on their chosen emphasis. The program is divided into the following categories: (1) Techniques, training and practice; (2) Teaching methodology; (3) Anatomy and Physiology; (4) Philosophy, lifestyle and ethics; and (5) Practicum.

Yoga teachers are also classified into two: RYT and E-RYT. The “Registered Yoga Teacher” (RYT) designation means the instructor has completed either a 200- or a 500-hr program. An E-RYT, on the other hand, has completed training and accrued at least 2 years and 1,000 hours of teaching experience, in addition to also being allowed to train other teachers. Panacea, at present, boasts of Mary Byerly, E-RYT 500 and Debra Marcos, RYT 200 as central members of their staff.

Now, Panacea is more than just a retreat and recreational yoga spa. Visitors can enjoy their vacation in this majestic place while they go deeper into the practice of Yoga. For more information, visit www.PanaceaCR.com.
