Local Company Educating Builders on How to Build Energy Efficient Homes
SkyeTec teaming up with the Florida Home Builders Association and the Building Officials Association of Florida to educate builders on the new Florida Energy Code
Jacksonville, Florida, March 10, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Local company and energy experts, SkyeTec, have joined with the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) and the Building Officials Association of Florida (BOAF) to serve as the designated energy specialists for a series of Building Code Boot Camps taking place throughout the state.
Florida’s residential building code and energy code is changing at the end of June, which means that new homes will be required to meet updated energy efficiency standards. To meet these standards, each new home will be required to pass a test that measures how tightly sealed the home is. A tightly sealed home decreases the likelihood of having a drafty house, which makes the home more energy efficient and helps keep utility costs lower.
SkyeTec will be co-teaching the energy portion of the boot camps to prepare builders for what the energy code requires so that they can be ready when it takes effect on June 30th. SkyeTec will also be working with builders to provide more in-depth training on how to build their homes to be more energy efficient and easily pass the required testing.
This Friday, March 13th, SkyeTec will be at the St. Johns Agricultural Center for the Building Code Boot Camp. Registration is free and builders can earn seven CEU’s for attending.
Builders are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get a head start on how to prepare for the new energy code. Visit www.SkyeTec.com for more information and to register to attend.
