Little Sisters Fund Selected to Partner with Dining for Women

The Little Sisters Fund has been selected as a Featured Program by Dining for Women. The partnership will enable education, mentoring, and comprehensive support for economically disadvantaged girls in Nepal who are at risk for child trafficking, child marriage, and child labor.

The Little Sisters Fund is excited to announce a new funding partnership with Dining for Women.  The two-year partnership will support the Little Sisters Fund as we expand our efforts in districts of Nepal where girls face higher levels of marginalization and risk.

As part of our strategic planning process, the LSF team recently decided to focus on five districts in the coming years. We will maintain our current programs across the 19 districts where we work now, but will seek to increase our impact specifically in Banke, Dang, Parsa, Makwanpur, and Sindhupalchowk.

"We're thrilled to partner with Dining for Women to help 100 girls in Nepal empower themselves by getting an education that might otherwise be unavailable to them. We love their collective giving circle, as it show the powerful change people can catalyze when they come together and also mirrors the generosity, compassion, and empowerment that we seek to instill in Little Sisters in Nepal."

Trevor Patzer, Co-Founder & Executive Director, USA, of the Little Sisters Fund

Dining for Women’s support will be directed to Banke and Dang, two districts along the Indian border in the Midwest of Nepal. The districts are rural, with many people relying on subsistence farming. The nearby open border with India mean that girls living there are particularly at risk for trafficking. Mirroring LSF’s multi-dimensional approach, Dining for Women’s support will fund scholarships (through our School Scholarship Program), as well as supporting programs including Primary Educator Training, Counseling and Awareness Raising, Preventative Healthcare, and School Coordinators.

In order to truly transform the life prospects and open opportunities for economically disadvantaged girls, we believe it is necessary to support the complete education of girls. Thus, while the partnership with Dining for Women will span two years, the Little Sisters Fund’s commitment remains the same: to partner with each girl for 8-12 years (depending on her entry grade in the program) until she completes her secondary education and is well-positioned to lead an independent and empowered life.

Dining for Women is a non-profit giving circle dedicated to empowering women and girls living in extreme poverty. Dining for Women chapters meet regularly for members to share a meal and learn about each month’s Featured Program.  Members typically donate what they save by dining in. Little Sisters Fund will be the featured program in the month of December.
