IMMI Turbines Selected to Design and Construct a $3.2 Million Cogen Power Plant in Iowa

IMMI Turbines will build a $3.2 million heat and power generation plant in Mason City, Iowa. The eight megawatt Cogen (steam) power plant will utilize combined heat and power (CHP), which integrates the two sources into a single, highly-efficient process, reducing fuel demand and emissions.

IMMI Turbines, the leading provider of rotating equipment services and power plant solutions, today announced that it will build a $3.2 million heat and power generation plant in Mason City, Iowa. The eight megawatt Cogen (steam) power plant will utilize combined heat and power (CHP), which integrates the two sources into a single, highly-efficient process, reducing fuel demand and emissions.

The power plant, which IMMI Turbines will design, construct and install, will consist of one remanufactured gas turbine and a heat recovery steam generator producing 4.2 megawatts (MW) and 24,000 pounds per hour (PPH) of 150 pounds per square inch (psi) process steam for an ethanol plant. The electricity generated from the plant will be sold to local energy producers, and the steam generated from the plant will be sold to an adjacent Ethanol plant.

"This is another step in our effort to continue to bring MMI Turbines' powerful services and energy solutions to businesses and communities around the world."

Dr. Whitney Stevens, IMM Turbines Chief Executive Officer

“This is another step in our effort to continue to bring MMI Turbines’ powerful services and energy solutions to businesses and communities around the world,” said IMM Turbines Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Whitney Stevens.  “CHP is a proven strategy for increasing the efficiency for electric and thermal generation. The new high-pressure, steam power plant will use CHP technology, which will translate into real energy and cost savings for customers.”

In addition to a core team of technical skilled specialists utilizing top quality products, remote monitoring and analytics, IMMI will appoint a single point of contact to lead and manage the Cogan power plant project, maximizing the return on investment for customers utilizing IMMI Turbines’ rotating equipment power plant technologies. The company covers everything from basic equipment delivery to comprehensive engineering, procurement and construction solutions.

“From natural gas to liquid biofuels, from baseload to peak load, from 2 MW to more than 1000 MW, IMMI’s simple cycle and Cogen  power plants are uniquely designed and built to meet and exceed our customers’ requirements,” said Peter Lord – Chief Engineer. “We focus on the overall quality, design, construction and cost management of the plant, applying our core value and strength and our extensive years of experience to provide a technically advanced power plant in the shortest amount of time.”
