Etratech Closes Out 25th Anniversary Year With More Growth, Awards

Quarter-century marked with tremendous staff growth, new equipment, national recognition

Etratech Inc., a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of advanced electronic controls and control systems for major multinational companies, is closing out its 25th year in business with a number of achievements. Despite dismal forecasts about the future of advanced manufacturing in Canada, Etratech is thriving. The firm, which is headquartered in Burlington, ON, has facilities in the US and China, as well as offices in Europe and Hong Kong, has aggressive goals for the years ahead, and seems on track to meet or exceed them. This year’s accomplishments include:

  • The hiring of over 25 employees for electronics assembly from the Burlington and Hamilton areas, effectively doubling the firm’s afternoon shift on the manufacturing floor.
  • In keeping with its commitment to growth and staying ahead of the technology curve, Etratech has made a significant capital investment in a third state-of-the-art Panasonic surface mount technology (SMT) line. The equipment features enhanced laser marking and integrated SPI screen printing. Additional new equipment was added to the floor during the year to support a large-scale production project.
  • The achievement of being recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Small and Medium Employers for 2015. Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers recognizes SMEs with exceptional workplaces and forward-thinking human resource policies. Etratech has also been nominated and is currently a finalist for several other national awards.

CEO Michael Desnoyers is optimistic about the year ahead. “Despite the headlines, we’re not seeing any decrease in demand for electronics. In fact, as the demand for smart products grows, global OEMs need reliable partners who can design, engineer and manufacture the high-quality electronic components their customers expect.” Desnoyers adds, “Additionally, as OEMs look to re-shore their manufacturing, the Canadian dollar in conjunction with our proximity to the US, makes Canadian companies look increasingly attractive. If you can offer both high quality work and competitive pricing, it becomes a lot easier to be optimistic.”
