Fans of “Downton Abby” won’t want to miss the newest exhibit at the Wolcott Heritage Center. The exhibit, based on the popular PBS series, displays original gowns and decorative art from 1900 through the “Roaring 20’s.”

Featured are a selection of gowns ranging from a white, heavily embroidered, cotton lawn Edwardian “Lingerie” dress to a knee length, gold chiffon “chemise” shimmering in gold sequins and silver beads, providing a vivid picture of the rapidly changing styles of the era. A few, including a velvet and brocade, fur trimmed “Opera Coat” were purchased from or influenced by Parisian couture houses for local “ladies of fashion.”

Included in the exhibit is an early woolen bathing suit, typical of one worn by the first “Miss America” in 1923 and a ladies “touring outfit” for enjoying a ride in a new Toledo made “Overland.” Also on display are several outstanding examples of the decorative arts of the period featuring an exquisite hand painted china dressing table set, vases and Ohio pottery. Ends November 1, 2015.

Tours are held Thursday through Sunday at 12:30 and 2:30pm. Admission: Adults, $6; Seniors, $5; Students, $2.50; Members, Free.
