Buddy Bigfoot Exercise DVD

The story how Michael Schmidt built a 1200 sq ft building from garbage to film a Kids Exercise DVD with the character he created, Buddy Bigfoot.

On a snowy day in the middle of January, I watched my children sit down on the couch in front of the TV for the most of the afternoon.  We had been hit by a major snow storm that week and they were stuck inside for the entire school vacation.  As a parent of young children, my wife and I try and limit the amount of time our children watch TV.  During the winter months in Michigan where there can be snow on the ground for months at a time, it's hard keeping your kids away from the TV though.  When they are watching TV, they are sitting, and not getting any of the recommended 60 minutes of exercise daily they need.  According to the CDC, roughly 1/3 of all children and adolescents in the United States are obese, and watching TV doesn't help this at all.

It was during that snowstorm in 2010 that I had an idea.  What if there was a show my children could watch which would get them up and moving while watching TV?  Instead of them sitting on the couch and watching mindless cartoons and movies, I created a show that the main character, Buddy Bigfoot, would get the kids up and burning energy while they were following along with Buddy on TV.

How I built a studio from garbage to film a Kids Exercise DVD in.

Michael Schmidt, Owner

The shows are written in a way that Buddy Gets his audience to follow along with him as he moves around on screen.  Instead of children sitting and watching the shows main character, our Character, Buddy, is engaging the audience at home and having them participate with him the entire time.  Every time Buddy is singing , dancing, or playing, he is doing it in a way as to make sure he audience at home is following along with him.  Our goal is to get your child up and moving for the entire show, and watching two shows would have them meet the daily amount of exercise needed.

I needed some place to film the Buddy Bigfoot episodes, so I started collecting used lumber from the construction sites in my area before work.  I did this for close to 6 months, and gathered a massive sized pile of used lumber before I began to build the Studio.  I built the floor from used pallets, and I enclosed the entire structure with used vinyl billboards, the same billboards you would see while driving on the expressway.
