BrinkVision Distributes Indie Horror Film Sorrow In the U.S. and Canada

When writer and director Millie Loredo found funding for production of her directorial debut, indie horror film Sorrow, she was able to film and produce the project. However, when it was finished and ready for viewing, one of the most difficult obstacles presented itself: finding distribution.

Loredo spoke with BrinkVision distribution, and they were able to introduce Loredo to another path to viewers. Online streaming has become a new way for independent filmmakers to introduce audiences to their films.

Sorrow premieres at River Oaks Theatre in Houston, Texas and online on Amazon Instant Video on Tuesday, April 21. Hulu will begin streaming the indie horror film mid-May.

BrinkVision was able to contract Hulu Network and Amazon Prime to stream Loredo’s directorial debut online in both the U.S. and Canada. Amazon Prime will begin streaming the indie horror film on Tuesday, April 21, and Hulu will begin streaming Sorrow mid-May.

“Twice as many viewers watch Hulu than the five major TV networks combined,” she said. “There was a total of 38 million people who watched Hulu at least once in the past year alone.”

Streaming on Hulu is a special accomplishment for Loredo, because her lead actress, Vannessa Vasquez, currently stars in Hulu Network’s original series “East Los High.” Vasquez’s recent Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Performer in New Approaches to a Drama Series is a testament to the wide reach of audiences streaming finds online.

In fact, Hulu Network programs received three Daytime Emmy nominations, Amazon Prime programs received seven and fellow online streaming network Netflix’s programming received a total of 18.

BrinkVision will also be distributing DVD and Blu-ray copies of Sorrow this summer in select retail stores in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, Loredo has set up a screening tour for the indie horror film in four states across the U.S., including once in Texas, Georgia, North Carolina and twice in New York.
