A New Fast Method to Deploy ABBYY's Advanced OCR & Data Capture FlexiCapture Suite on Amazon Cloud by WiseTREND

ABBYY FlexiCapture is one of WiseTREND’s most frequently implemented packages. This software provides advanced capabilities for document classification, form processing, data extraction, and workflow routing automation.

According to Ilya Evdokimov, a Senior Projects Architect at WiseTREND who has been deploying enterprise document processing systems using ABBYY’s award-winning technology for over 16 years, before this new method of deployment, a conventional implementation at a company took many days.  The process began with either provisioning a dedicated server or acquiring a new server. Then, IT personnel needed to configure it with appropriate security, permissions, domain and other company-specific updates, which meant days spent waiting for the hardware to arrive and become available, as well as multiple involved resources, not to mention substantial upfront expenses. The ABBYY FlexiCapture then had to be installed, along with several third-party components. After this, initial configuration required a creation of a new database for internal use, as well as setting up a permanent file location. Only then could the work of setting up the actual FlexiCapture for document processing begin.

What took many hours or more typically many days in the past now takes only a few minutes.

Today, WiseTREND’s clients who plan to use Amazon EC2 for their FlexiCapture server can enjoy the benefit of using WiseTREND’s pre-configured private AMI (Amazon Machine Image). This AMI is currently available in the US East (North Virginia), as well as the US West (Northern California) regions.  Deploying a new AMI into an instance of any size takes just a few minutes. Once the server is launched from the image, it provides access to over 15 components pre-installed and pre-configured for FlexiCapture’s proper operation, including sample projects for Invoices, contracts and handwritten survey forms processing. Typically, this process took from a few hours to a couple of days due to various third-party complications or conflicts when we were using the previous setup from the ground up, which is how most other resellers still perform similar installations. However, with the use of WiseTREND’s AMIs the process now takes a few minutes and quickly jumps to the final stage of project configuration.  WiseTREND experts have already pre-installed and bundled all the necessary components for optimal FlexiCapture implementation. Now it is as simple as launching a new instance from AMI, adding your own FlexiCapture serial number license, and configuring your project and processing settings. A company using this method could be in production within half an hour – something that was simply impossible to achieve in such a short time before.
