2nd Safety Award in a Row for KBE Building Corporation

Commercial construction management firm wins CCIA's 2014 Safety Recognition Award

KBE Building Corp. has earned a second award for its 2014 safety performance – the 2014 CCIA Safety Recognition award from the Connecticut Construction Industries Association (CCIA). Earlier this year, KBE was awarded the “Best of Best General Contractor” Safety Award at the Associated Builders and Contractors, Connecticut Chapter’s (CT ABC) Annual Excellence in Construction Awards program.

The Connecticut Construction Industries Association’s (CCIA) Safety Recognition Program is designed to help construction companies either establish or enhance a construction safety and health program by recognizing the safety achievements of its members.

Award Criteria

CCIA’s Safety Recognition Awards Program follows the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) guidelines, which require a safety and health program to include the following components:

  • Correction of Violations and Noncompliance
  • Employee Training
  • Management Involvement
  • Safety Hazard Analysis

There are 16 criteria categories (A-P) and a graduated point system that allows a firm to evaluate its own safety and health program.

A Legacy of Construction Industry Safety

KBE staff members have been instrumental in solidifying the firm’s reputation as a leader in construction industry safety.

All KBE field staff members are 30-Hour OSHA Certified for Construction. In recent years, KBE's Corporate Safety staff trained more than 600 individual trade contract staff members in various practices, including aerial lift training, lull training, and general site safety.

KBE was honored with a Roundtable Construction Industry Safety Award and has achieved either a Platinum or Gold STEP (Safety Training & Evaluation Process) Award from the national Associated Builders and Contractors every year since 2002.

“We’ve won many safety awards over the years, but each one is a reminder that we can’t rest on our laurels – we must continue to improve our programs to help keep our staff members, our subcontractors, and the public safe during all projects,” said Adam Peters, Safety Director at KBE.
