May 1, 2014 (Newswire) - Palm Beach Thyroid and Endocrinology is pleased to offer self-management classes built around the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) "7 self-care behaviors". Classes aim to promote and teach people with diabetes to be active, to eat healthy, to practice daily monitoring, how to take medication, to reduce risks, to problem solve and to develop healthy coping habits for successful diabetes management.
Group classes and one-on-one sessions are available.
Classes led by the Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE) and Dr. Anna Frisch, MD, PhD offers support and guidance for the program and classes.
Our program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association for providing patients with the tools and habits they need to avoid long term complications and successfully control diabetes.
We licensed can help patients with a variety of conditions learn the nutritional and meal planning skills they need to lead a healthier lifestyle. In addition to diabetes, we see people with cardiovascular conditions, gastro-intestinal issues, obesity and weight gain, unexpected weight loss, and others.
You do not need to be a patient in our practice to attend the certified education classes which are offered every month. All you need is a referral from your own doctor. After completing the class, you will receive a certificate of completion and your primary care physician will be informed as well. The class, taught by a certified diabetes educator, provides detailed insight into how to self-manage this chronic illness. Also, as a patient you will also have the opportunity for one-on-one nutrition education and diabetes care.
