Obama Summons the Luck of the Leprechauns for HARP Release

HARP 2.0 is coming online this weekend, offering an opportunity to refinance to those who's houses are underwater.

HARP 2.0 goes live this weekend, bringing relief to millions of homeowners. It has been a long journey since the changes were originally announced in November, but like most epic journeys, the destination makes it all worthwhile. We have survived the countdown to HARP!

So why have we waited so long for these changes to take effect? Was it a logistical nightmare marred by red tape? Was it an unreasonable goal set forth, hoping for change without a realistic game plan? For the answer, we have to look no further than the date of HARP 2.0's release; March 17th otherwise known as St. Patrick's Day. Why St. Patrick's Day? Because, the government is hoping for an additional boost to their housing market solution, the luck of the Irish.

For three years we have struggled through a horrible economic situation nationwide. Americans are fed up with the Fed. It started with the collapse of our housing market and, as of now, that market has yet to recover. However, after all our federal government's efforts have proved ineffective, HARP comes as an opportunity.

In addition to the strategic implementation of luck, the HARP Program already boasts helpful incentives:

- Removal of L-T-V cap. This means NO MATTER how much you owe on your home, you can still qualify.

-Bankruptcy or a foreclosure allowable, even if it was recent, you can still refinance with HARP 2.0.

-Reduction in closing costs, no appraisal cost and reduction of closing fees that can be rolled into your overall loan.

The Irish are famous for demonstrating extraordinarily high levels of luck. From winning coin tosses and rock-paper -scissors duels, it's no doubt the luck of the Irish is a powerful tool, but is it enough? Ultimately, we'll see if using Irish luck is a good idea.

It might be unsettling to imagine the Obama administration calling on leprechauns and four leaf clovers under their pillows as our best chance, but we are all hoping the HARP program starts to turn around the housing market. And maybe with a little luck, we will all be able to find our own pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
