An Insider Look at the Floral Trends for Fall

One of the most important details of a wedding besides the dresses and venue, are the flowers. With so many trends floating around the bridal world, we wanted to give you guys an insider look at the floral trends for fall with seasoned floral designer veteran, Oscar De Los Santos, from Flair Floral.

Q: What flowers are in season for a fall wedding?

A: Autumn is a warm time for colors and flowers I usually see: deep tone roses, Dahlias, Gerberas and Asiatic Lilies. Here at Flair Floral it does not matter what time your wedding is we can get any flower at any time.

Q: What is something important that brides need to keep in mind?

A: We love being able to see the bride’s vision in anything they want, but an important aspect to watch about flowers is an allergy. I suggest to any bride that they expose themselves to the flowers they want before they order them because I have known some brides to discover new allergies, especially when ordering flowers that have never been around before.

Q: What would a fall wedding bouquet look like?

A: Well there is typically three parts to a floral design piece: the main, secondary, and the fillers or the third flower. A good example of a fall centerpiece would consist of: the main flower being a Cafe Dahlia, the secondary is Burgundy Anemones, the third flower is a Brandy Freesia.

Q: What is the trend for bridesmaids?

A: I am seeing an individualistic approach for the bridesmaids. Each bridesmaid is given a different set of flowers because each of them have a different relationship to the bride. This uniqueness is a great way to show your appreciation to all the bridesmaids by making each of them extraordinary.

Q: What are the trends you see for fall weddings?

A: The “family style” seating for the wedding parties. These weddings have long tables that are connected, which is where the autumn feel of gathering comes together. On the table we have long garlands of greens, we cover them with smaller floral arrangements and maple leafs.

Q: What are the trends for brides after they use their bouquets?

A: What I recommend to all brides I supply flowers for, is a couple of things. You can buy the silica gel to preserve your flowers in a box or hang the petals up in a clear ornament to keep them on your tree or anywhere you can hang them.
