11th Hour Project Launches Regenerative Agriculture Foundation
The 11th Hour Project is excited to announce the launch of the Regenerative Agriculture Foundation (RAF) whose mission is to support farmers and ranchers, the managers of the vast majority of the nation's land surface, through research, education and advocacy.
Palo Alto, CA, February 10, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The 11th Hour Project is excited to announce the launch of the Regenerative Agriculture Foundation (RAF) whose mission is to support farmers and ranchers, the managers of the vast majority of the nation’s land surface, through research, education and advocacy. “With RAF’s support, our nation’s stewards will be empowered to activate the great potential of biology to sequester atmospheric carbon, increase the quantity and quality of fresh water, reduce ocean acidification and dead zones, increase biodiversity and support thriving rural communities,” said Sarah Bell, Director of The 11th Hour Project’s Ecological Agriculture Program. It will achieve this mission through grant making, convening experts, and educating the field.
The Regenerative Agriculture Foundation will be led by 11th Hour Project Ecological Agriculture Program Associate, Kevin Boyer. Having led the foundation’s Regenerative Rangelands sub-program since its inception, Kevin will continue and expand this work as the head of RAF. “While we are sad to see Kevin go, we are proud of the work he has shepherded here for the last five years and excited to see this work grow and lead to the systemic change that defines our Foundation,” said Joe Sciortino, Executive Director of The Schmidt Family Foundation.
While the Regenerative Agriculture Foundation is not formally connected to The Schmidt Family Foundation or The 11th Hour Project, the foundation will be providing RAF with its first grant.
