New MIMO Mobile Antenna provide performance advantages over traditional diversity systems

Many of the newest wireless networks, such as WiMAX, HSPA and LTE, are moving towards greater use of MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) systems and MIMO Antennas.

Schiller Park, IL, January 6, 2010 - Many of the newest wireless networks, such as WiMAX, HSPA and LTE, are moving towards greater use of MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) systems and MIMO Antennas. The introduction of MIMO technology is driven by a desire for a greater level of consistent and reliable coverage.

MIMO systems, also known as spatial multiplexing, transmit different data on different antenna elements. The data is decoded and combined at the receive end. The net result is greater data throughput and improved bandwidth efficiency.

Mobile Mark's new MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) Mobile Antenna provides three cable feeds, each with identical frequency coverage. The three separate antenna elements are housed within a compact rugged radome. Each element is fed by a different cable, each cable covers the entire 2.4-2.5 & 4.9-6.0 GHz spectrum and each antenna element provides 4 dBi gain with a VSWR of less than 2:1.

A well designed antenna is an important part of a complete MIMO system. It is critical to find a mobile antenna that provides the electrical and mechanical standards needed for consistent coverage in tough settings. Mobile Mark's MIMO Mobile Antennas are receiving high marks on both fronts.

"The initial feedback has been quite positive." according to Ken Lukowski, VP Sales. "Customers are completely blown away with the cutting edge nature of these antennas. We are solving multiband problems that they never dreamed could be achieved in one simple configuration. And we are just scratching the surface of new Multi-band configurations we plan to release."

This Low Profile Surface Mount Antenna is housed in a rugged, UV Resistant, ASA radome that measures 1.5-inches (38mm) tall x 3.5-inches (89mm) in diameter. Standard configuration is Low Loss RF-195 cable with SMA plug.

The MIMO Mobile Antenna will stand up to harsh environments. It has a water ingress rating of IPX7 and has been tested to and passed Industry and Military shock and vibration standards: EN61373:1999, IEEE1478-2001, and MIL-STD-810G.
