Using single-point dance trapezes, invented apparatus, aerial fabric, stilts and more, The Bird House will fly into The Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, CO May 2nd - 4th. Performances are: Friday and Saturday at 8pm as well as Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are all reserved seating: $25 for adults and $18 for kids 12 years and under and seniors 65 years and older. The Bird House explores the concept of being caged versus free, and the sense of home versus migrating. Sourcing from literature, mythology, scientific writing, and adages about birds, the performance showcases our aerial dancers in flight, perching, flocking and nesting. The performance takes the audience on a migratory flight path to their own perceptions of winged creatures. Thought provoking, beautiful, and sublime.
"Birds have been the subject of myth, nightmares, poetry, song and dance for eons. They are often food, harbingers of joy, or portents of bad tidings. As aerialists we aspire to their hollow-boned graceful flight. For this show, we're drawing on aspects of our relationships with birds and flight to delight the audience," says Artistic Director, Nancy Smith.
