3D photographic simulation gives patient's results to look forward in the offices of Stony Brook's most famous plastic surgeon; Dr. Mark Epstein
Many people who are considering aesthetic plastic surgery have concerns—often about what the results will be. It's a large leap of blind faith when a patient imagines what the results might be, then commits to surgery. Advancement in three-dimensional photography, combined with innovative software allows patients to preview what they will look like as the result of breast augmentation or facial procedures well in advance of any surgery.
Dr. Mark Epstein, director of the Center for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Stony Brook, is proud to announce that his office now has the VECTRA 3D imaging system so that his patients can get a comprehensive feel for what their results will look like.
The process starts with a VECTRA 3D session, which produces a three dimensional photograph of the patient. Then, using Sculptor software, Dr. Epstein is able to simulate the expected results of a variety of aesthetic procedures, including breast augmentation, breast lift, rhinoplasty, chin augmentation or a facelift. Since they are 3D models, these images can be viewed from all angles giving the patient an unflinching look at their potential result. This is often enough to ease concerns that many patients might have.
As a leading surgeon who is always on the forefront of the newest breast augmentation technology, Dr. Epstein offers free VECTRA 3D imaging consultations for his breast augmentation patients. The VECTRA system provides precise measurements and helps the doctor and his patients agree upon the well-defined goals. This way Dr. Epstein can help to manage his patient's expectations and there is no risk of miscommunication.
Despite Dr. Epstein's skill and extensive experience, some patients are still uncertain about having breast surgery because of their concern over achieving the exact results they desire. The VECTRA 3D system puts these doubts to rest by creating a 3D image of the breasts and torso to let the patient visualize exactly how her breasts will look after surgery.
"My patients absolutely love this," said Dr. Mark Epstein, "For the first time, they're able to see a 3D picture of themselves with their new look. Because it's in 3D, I can rotate their picture to any viewpoint, and they can really examine the desired result. We can make changes here and there and agree on a final look in advance, and this truly helps them make a decision".
