Dr. J. Thaddeus Beck, of Highlands Oncology Group (HOG), has co-authored an investigation of an explicit treatment option for advanced cancer.

The study aimed to derive the effect Panobinostat, an experimental drug for the treatment of various cancers, has on the enzyme CYP2D6. CYP2D6 is used in other cancer medications so the effect of Panobinostat on CYP2D6 is important so that they can be co-administered safely.

The research concluded that safety monitoring of sensitive CYP2D6 enzyme is recommended when co-administering with Panobinostat in future clinical practice.

"Highlands is committed to expanding access to clinical trials in our service area and is grateful to the patients that contributed to this important research," Beck said.
