July 4 Celebrations Planned Throughout the Area- Albany GA

Independence Parade and Fireworks: June 29, 6 p.m., Washington Street, Main Street, Courtney Hodges Boulevard. Freedom Fireworks Celebration: 7 p.m., Georgia National Fairgrounds West Gate; fireworks begin at dusk. Kid's Zone arm bands $10

Southwest Georgia is celebrating America's birthday in style, with various fun, festive, and firework-filled events from July 27 through July 4.

CITY OF ALBANY

July 4, Exchange Club Fairgrounds. With two stages providing live entertainment, more than 40 vendors, bounce houses from Wilder's World, Maker Space slip 'n slide, face painting, and animals from Chehaw, this is a family-friendly event with fun for everyone.

Admission is $2 person or $5 per car with up to six people. Buses are not included in car price, and riders will be charged $2 per person. Military personnel are free with Military ID.

Gates open at 3 p.m. and a fireworks show set to music will begin at 9:15 p.m., but attendees are urged to arrive early in order to avoid traffic congestion.

Security checks will be conducted at the entrance. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair for fireworks show, but no bags (including chair bags), backpacks, coolers, alcohol, weapons, pets or personal fireworks allowed.

Now in its second year at the Exchange Club, this event sponsored by the City of Albany provides a safe and festive atmosphere for celebrating America's freedom.

"It's really just going to be a great, fun time for everyone," said Albany Parks and Recreation Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Kristin Caso. "Everyone needs to make sure they arrive early, or they may end up watching the fireworks show from the parking lot!"
