Dallas, Texas - In the Door Advertising and Partners team up to host its 1st Annual DFWs Gospel's Greatest Talent Competition with auditions beginning December 9, 2011 at S.O.W. Ministries in Lancaster, Texas. Proceeds of the event will go to support the arts in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex as well as raise awareness of Childhood and Adult Obesity. This annual event showcases local Christian performing artists ages 7 and up in the areas of singing, rap, spoken word, and acting. It offers opportunities through Sponsorship, Donations, and Individual Participants.

"We are very excited about this event and look forward to giving Christian artists a new platform to present their talents. This event is an opportunity to give back to the community through the arts as well as raise awareness of childhood and adult obesity," said Katina Potts, Event Director and Founder.

DFWs Gospel's Greatest is the first annual individual gospel contest to showcase Christian artists in the areas of singing, rap, spoken word, and acting talent. Two winners will be chosen for the singing/rap competition from different age groups. One winner will be crowned DFWs Gospel's Greatest Adult (age 18 and up), and one winner will be crowned DFWs Gospel's Greatest Youth (age 7-17). One winner will be crowned DFWs Gospel's Greatest Acting Talent (no age criteria). Prizes include cash, voice lessons, acting lessons, and more. The event will tour the Metroplex auditioning at four different locations to give everyone an opportunity to participate. For a unique twist, at least 50 people at each location will be given the opportunity to try out with a one minute monologue for DFWs Katina Potts Christian Performing Arts Scholarship. We will go from 50 to 10 during the audition process. After the audition process in January, there will be final showcases in February to determine the winners.

More about DFWs Katina Potts Christian Performing Arts Scholarship Fund
The DFWs Katina Potts Christian Performing Arts Scholarship Fund is important to its founder due to her love of performing arts, specifically acting. Since she wasn't able to attend acting school or get an agent as a child, she has set out to gain her big break as an adult. In the process, she would like to give others, young and old, a "Boost" in this area because she believes in blessing others as one is blessed.

Having struggled with obesity as a child, the founder created this scholarship fund to address the issue of adult and childhood obesity by providing free boot camps and exercise equipment to schools in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex that have had their physical education budgets cut. The organization would also like to provide information, support, and assistance for students and parents, throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex.

According to the Center for Disease Control, about one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2-19 years are obese. During the past 20 years, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States and rates remain high. In 2010, no state had a prevalence of obesity less than 20%. Thirty-six states had a prevalence of 25% or more; 12 of these states (Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia) had a prevalence of 30% or more. Texas is at 31%.
