Find a Little Luck of the Irish at the Northern California Renaissance Faire

Celtic Rock Band Series Returns Every Saturday Night Free with General Admission

When the sun sets at the Northern California Renaissance Faire, the fun still continues with the popular Celtic Rock Concert Series. Every Saturday night, from September 14-October 13, the jousting arena will be transformed into a rocking concert venue featuring folk and Irish themed music with a modern twist.

Each week a different band will take the stage and perform their greatest hits starting wth Tempest, and following Saturday nights with: Wicked Tinkers, Galway Hooker Band, Hoist the Colors, and concluding with Brick Top Blaggers.

Since forming in 1988, Tempest, infuses Irish reels, Scottish ballads, and Norwegian influences to create high-energy folk rock music. Having released 15 critically acclaimed CDs and playing more than 2,000 gigs, Tempest is composed of musicians who hail from all over the globe and each add their own unique sound.

Wicked Tinkers will transport attendees to an earlier time in Scotland when heart-pounding bagpipes and tribal drums filled the air. The band as professionally toured since 1995 and merges modern and rock-and-roll energy with the sounds of their Gaelic ancestors.

Next, The Galway Hooker Band, combines hard rock infused with traditional Irish sounds and melodies that will leave crowds dancing. The Huntington Beach based band, formed in 2008, intertwines punk rock vocals with the fiddle, mandolin, bass, drums, and guitar for a sound that is truly unique and not to be missed.

It may seem impossible to blend punk rock, traditional Irish music, American folk, and bluegrass into one sound but Hoist the Colors, a band based out of Los Angeles, does so with remarkable ease and fun. Sold out shows and national media attention have recognized the musical talent of Hoist the Colors and the Renaissance Faire will surely be no exception.

Lastly, Brick Top Blaggers, bridges the gap between Celtic folk music and punk rock sounds which seamlessly blends together to create hits such as "Two Years Enough" and "Plastic Paddy". Sounds of the accordion, fiddle, bagpipes and more engage the audience to create a truly unforgettable and exuberant performance.

Come view and be entertained from these talented performances during The Celtic Rock Series running every Saturday for five weekends, starting September 14 through October 13 at the Northern California Renaissance Faire in Casa de Fruta near Hollister. All concerts are free with general admission to the Faire.
