FancyDressShack.co.uk Announce Research Into Resident Evil, And Zombie Movie Popularity

FancyDressShack.co.uk, an online fancy dress retailer today announced their research into the popular Resident Evil franchise, and zombie movie popularity in general.

Resident Evil is a popular movie and gaming franchise, focusing on a virus that attacks a city, turning the residents in to zombies. Both game play and the movies have this storyline, although both of them are carried about by different means. For the Resident Evil games, they have sold 2.75 million units worldwide, and sales continue to increase. With this, it suggests that the popularity of zombie-based games is still quite high.

From the Resident Evil games, came the films. There are currently four Resident Evil films in existence. The newest film, Resident Evil: Retribution is set to be released in the United Kingdom on the 28th of September. With the release of this film being just a month from the Halloween celebrations, there is no doubt that the rise of zombie costumes popularity will happen.

In 2011, a grand total of 26 zombie-based movies were released, all met with high praise. The year 2012 has seen that zombie-craze wave ridden out, with just 12 zombie-based movies being released. However, this shows that whilst the popularity has decreased, it has not yet diminished. And with such a popular franchise as Resident Evil releasing yet another film, it can be anticipated that the zombies will see yet another surge of approval and popularity.

Other than Resident Evil, Wikipedia lists at least 618 zombie films that have been made since the film industry was first bought in to the horror movie genre. This is a testament to the popularity of them, considering the high volume. Many of these films have been made in the last 30 years, making that an average of 20 zombie films per year.

With the zombie films, games, and other things that have been born of the genre, there have come zombie walks. These are very popular, among young adults and teenagers. Residents of Leicester City took it upon themselves in the summer of 2011 to stage a zombie walk, upon learning that the council did not have a zombie apocalypse plan. In Birmingham, there is an annual zombie walk that has been set up, for people to gather and have fun. Zombie walks are done for many reasons, the largest one being that people are taken in by the zombie craze, and simply want to express their love of the genre fully.

The FancyDressShack.co.uk is well aware of the zombie-craze, and is getting on board with Resident Evil's band wagon. They are stocked well with all manner of zombie costumes, to get the general public truly in to the spirit of the things. They also have a manner of military and police-like costumes, to provide the public with the human side of things. What with Resident Evil being released so close to Halloween, it can be assumed that the zombie theme for the month of October will still be a crowd pleaser.

Due to the diverse nature of the horror film, and zombie film world, it is not surprising that FancyDressShack.co.uk have such a diverse range of products. Preparing for the premieres and releases of Resident Evil is made all that easier.

Kelly Woods, 19, from Leicester, who has participated in a zombie walk and is a fan of the Resident Evil movies, had this to say on the release of the films, "I've always been particular about horror films, but the Resident Evil movies are so action packed and graphically enhanced that I couldn't help but love them. I'm looking forward to all the costumes that will come being inspired by the release, too."
