Excel Software Ships LicenseSupport 2.0 for Software Support and License Integration

Online, May 26, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Excel Software, a leading supplier of Mac and Windows software protection tools, announced LicenseSupport 2.0. LicenseSupport consists of a desktop application used by a customer support person and an application programming interface to the Safe Activation server. Safe Activation is an online activation service that works with software protection and licensing tools including QuickLicense, DocProtect, AppProtect and LicenseSupport. LicenseSupport 2.0 adds major enhancements to the programming interface for the new Safe Activation Service 3.

A software vendor can use LicenseSupport to manage customer licenses for protected applications and documents. With modest technical skills, a customer support person can provide an activation code, reset a license, block an activated license before issuing a refund or change the number of allowed activations for a serial number.

LicenseSupport can be used directly with a customer running a protected application or document. It also works indirectly through the Safe Activation server. This task-oriented tool prompts the customer support person for the required information and generates a license code to support a customer by phone, email or web. LicenseSupport stores customer records, maintains an historical log of support activities, provides integrated email support and presents a secure login process.

Customer data including custom fields can be edited, searched, imported, exported or added from a Safe Activation generated email message. By integrating customer data, license commands and historical logs, LicenseSupport can optimize the support process for a specific customer license based on the Serial Number.

The LicenseSupport product documents a secure programming interface to the Safe Activation server. A vendor-written application or web service can securely access support commands to retrieve a Serial Number for a specific product, check the status of a license or view a customer record. The license status of a Serial Number can be changed including suspend, reset, subscriber, used, notify, allowed activations or optional features in the customer license can be remotely enabled or disabled.

The Safe Activation programming interface is typically used from shopping cart software running on a vendor web site. When processing a customer order, Serial Numbers can be securely retrieved, the allowed computer activation count can be set to match the ordered licenses and selected features in the license can be enabled in the activation server during the purchase process.

Customer accounts and support services running on a vendor web site can access or update licensing data stored in the activation server. Real-time data can be exchanged to and from protected applications running on a customer computer, the Safe Activation server and vendor provided web services.

LicenseSupport 2.0 is $395 for a Single User License on either Windows (XP, Vista or 7 with 32 or 64 bit processor) or Mac OS X. The Site License edition allows any support representative on a vendor network to access the customer license data. The product includes a printed and PDF User Guide.
