Coraid Employs Linktropy WAN Emulator for Ethernet SAN Testing

Apposite Technologies today announced that Coraid has selected the Linktropy 7500 PRO WAN emulator for testing its Ethernet SAN products.

Apposite® Technologies, the leader in easy-to-use, professional-quality network simulation products, today announced that Coraid has selected the Linktropy 7500 PRO WAN emulator for testing its Ethernet SAN products.

Coraid is redefining the fundamental economics of storage with Ethernet SAN solutions that provide enterprises of all sizes with flexible, scale-out, high-performance storage. Using innovative software with commodity, industry standard hardware and Ethernet, Coraid EtherDrive storage arrays enable a scale-out Ethernet SAN architecture that is ideally suited to dynamic high performance computing, video, virtualization and cloud environments.

Coraid selected Apposite's Linktropy 7500 PRO to simulate customer network conditions. The Linktropy WAN emulation appliances simulate wide-area network bandwidth, latency, loss, congestion, and other impairments to test application performance in the lab. By replicating a wide range of customer network conditions, Coraid can ensure that their storage systems work optimally when deployed by customers for remote replication.

"Linktropy is an invaluable tool for our storage replication testing," said Alan Beltran, Vice President of Engineering at Coraid. "Emulating customer network conditions during the development process tells us how the system will work on real customer networks and avoid surprises when installed in the field."

The Linktropy 7500 PRO emulates four separate links of up to 1 Gbps through four pairs of copper and SFP gigabit ethernet interfaces. It support an aggregate throughput of 4 Gbps at a rate of 3 million packets per second.

Apposite offers a complete line of network emulation products. In addition to the Linktropy 7500 PRO model, the Linktropy 5500 emulates a single link of up to 1 Gbps while the Linktropy Mini2 offers basic emulation capabilities up to 100 Mbps in a portable device. The Netropy product line consists of the Netropy N60, which simulates up to 15 links through a single pair of ethernet ports, the N80, which simulates 60 links through four pairs of ethernet ports, and the 10G2 which simulates 10 Gbps links to an aggregate capacity of 40 Gbps.
