Broward Meals On Wheels To Hold March For Meals Campaign

Support will help to continue feeding homebound seniors in our community

Broward Meals On Wheels announced today that it will be participating in the national 2014 March for Meals campaign. Broward Meals On Wheels' March for Meals event will include their monthly Next Meal Club mixer being held on Thursday, March 20th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Big Chef located at 4811 State Road 7 in Davie. Big Chef is a health-conscious, lean & green, freshly prepared frozen foods company specializing in gourmet and frozen appetizers. Big Chef is the caterer for Broward Meals On Wheels' Complete Cuisine meal delivery program. Those interested in attending can RSVP at jwescott@bmow.org or call 954.714.6922.

The Next Meal Club is a group of seasoned professionals who support Broward Meals On Wheels in making a difference in the lives of older adults who are at risk of going hungry. Club members can join on four different levels of giving: Gourmet, Master Chef, Connoisseur, and Top Chef. Each level offers its members benefits, but more importantly, all members are invited to attend a networking mixer event once a month to get to know one another, discuss what's happening with the agency and learn how their support is making a difference in the lives of seniors in need.

"In this tough economy, the food and human contact we provide to seniors in this community is needed more than ever," said Mark Adler, Executive Director of Broward Meals On Wheels. "We need the community to come out and support our March for Meals events. Our clients are counting on us. We can't let them down."

March for Meals is a national campaign held during the month of March, initiated and sponsored by the Meals On Wheels Association of America to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of local communities. Hundreds of Senior Nutrition Programs across the United States, like Broward Meals On Wheels, promote March for Meals through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives.

"Our Meals On Wheels programs are on the front lines every day in the battle against senior hunger," said Meals On Wheels Association of American President and CEO Ellie Hollander. "March for Meals is a time when communities can come together to stand with their local Meals On Wheels program and support our mission to end senior hunger in America."
