Bitcoin Startup Moneero Brings 6.8 Billion Cellphones into the Bitcoin Network

In order to broaden the appeal of the digital currency and expand the userbase, tech engineers at Moneero are developing software that makes Bitcoin transactions as simple and fast as sending a tweet or a text message.

Uruguayan startup Moneero will instantly give 6.8 billion active cellphones the ability to send and receive bitcoins. Moneero expands Bitcoin's audience to most of the world's 7.1 billion people through widely-used technologies. Moneero SMS debuts in late November together with Moneero Social, a service that introduces Bitcoin to the world's 1.5 billion social media users.

Bitcoin's appeal has been limited to the tech and finance savvy because of the difficulty in acquiring and managing bitcoins. Jon Matonis, executive director of the Bitcoin Foundation, has expressed that for Bitcoin to reach widespread adoption there needs to be "more user-friendly applications that mask the complexities of cryptography from users and merchants".

Moneero, formerly BTC Global, provides an easy-to-use interface between people and Bitcoin that stretches across every platform. Moneero lets users avoid scanning QR codes, interpreting cryptographic Bitcoin addresses, and securing Bitcoin clients.

Bitcoins sent with Moneero services may be accessed after user verification. Using multi-factor authentication within its ecosystem, Moneero provides security and complies with international financial standards, like Know Your Customer, by allowing clients to verify their identities via email, phone number, social media account, and other tools. Moneero also supports insurance against losing bitcoins, sending bitcoins to the wrong person, and theft with accounts created and kept within its architecture.

The greater public will now be able to experience Bitcoin's nearly costless and instant transactions, which outperform existing payment methods, without any sophisticated knowledge whatsoever.

Moneero's trading engine, Moneero FX, powers the system with its ability to conduct from 300,000 to a 1,000,000 transactions per second and will provide users the ability to buy and sell Bitcoins depending on their jurisdiction.
