J and S Davis has rolled out Microsoft Dynamics NAV from Enterprise Resource Planning providers, Azzure, to seamlessly migrate the business from its previous owners and manage operations.
January 29, 2014 (Newswire) - Founded in 1908, wholesale dental distributor, J&S Davis, has been bought back under family ownership and in the transition implemented Azzure's Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP software solution to simplify distribution, apply electronic ordering and improve business processes.
Daniel Davis, great nephew and grandson of founders, Joe and Solomon, has become the third-generation owner of J&S Davis Limited, having purchased the company from Finnish dental equipment provider, the Planmeca Group. With the move, J&S Davis rolled out Microsoft Dynamics NAV from ERP providers, Azzure, to seamlessly migrate the business from its previous owners and manage operations.
Implemented in less than four months, the new system has streamlined purchasing and order processes and provided the financial capability to deliver accurate and timely reporting, moreover it averted near disaster during J&S Davis' relocation:
"We were sharing premises, as well as an IT system with the previous owner, so after implementing Microsoft Dynamics our next step was to move the business," explains Daniel. "We've got more than three and a half thousand items, so it wasn't something we could just do manually."
But with everything ready to go, J&S Davis was let down at the last minute by its racking supplier. "As we finished packing, we were told the warehouse racking wasn't coming for another two weeks." The company's salvation was Azzure IT, who wrote a process to relocate the stock virtually within the NAV system. As soon as J&S Davis was able to complete the physical move, the business was back online. Thereafter processes become really slick. "It was a nightmare but Azzure were the one constant; they did exactly what they said they would do," says Daniel.
With integrated financials, J&S Davis has literally shaved up to 20% off its debtor days. Picking has been simplified; distribution is more efficient; electronic ordering is ready to go and with excellent visibility across the business, customer service is top-notch.
"Azzure are a great support to us and without the new system our new start would be very messy indeed," concludes Daniel.
