Astute, Veeam and Microsoft Present Virtualization Seminar

Industry Leaders Share How to Achieve Unprecedented Performance for Database Applications in the Microsoft Hyper-V Environment

Astute NetworksTM, Inc., the leading provider of performance storage appliances, today announced that, together with Microsoft and Veeam, it will host a "Vino and Virtualization Educational Event" at EdgeWild Winery, in Chesterfield, Mo. The event, to be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, will feature informative presentations on how to achieve unprecedented performance for database applications in a Hyper-V environment.

Applications such as virtualized databases and VDI have demanding I/O performance characteristics that legacy storage architectures were never designed to support. Ensuring the performance of Oracle and SQL Server-based applications while maximizing data availability and minimizing costs is a significant challenge. Database server transaction processing applications are very random I/O intensive. But supporting enterprise-wide deployments of these powerful databases with traditional rotating disk storage systems inherently limits performance, resulting in prolonged queries, unacceptable response times, and long-running transactions. The result is often vendor finger-pointing that doesn't solve the business problem.

Experts from Microsoft, Veeam and Astute will address these challenges and present a series of sessions and solutions designed to help attendees achieve more with their Hyper-V environment. The sessions include:

· State of the Union for Hyper-V for Windows Server 2012 - presented by Microsoft

· Achieving an Immediate 10x Performance Increase for Database Applications in Hyper-V Environments - presented by Astute

· Management Console Solutions for Hyper-V Environments - presented by Veeam

"The combination of Astute's networked-attached all-flash ViSX performance storage appliance, Veeam management software and Microsoft Hyper-V delivers an incredible performance and cost-efficient platform for database environments," said Len Rosenthal, senior vice president marketing, Astute. "We are pleased to present how these innovative solutions interoperate to alleviate I/O bottlenecks and protect virtual assets with superior datastore, backup and replication performance."
